''A Europe for and with children'': launch of a three-year programme in Monaco
''Adults should stop regarding children as ''mini-people'' with ''mini-rights''. Also, children ought to be aware that conventions and rights exist, and it should be made easier for them to rely on these'', Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio said at the opening of the launch conference in Monaco on 4-5 April. Chaired by HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover, the conference implemented a three-year action plan designed for the 155 million children of Europe. The conference brought together participants from governments and parliaments, bodies championing the rights of the child, international organisations, and young people aged 14 to 18.
